Congratulations to our Josey
Students!
Lauren Yoder, daughter of Josey Ranch photographer Stefanie Yoder,
will be featured in the April 30th issue of "Charmed" magazine.
Lauren is a successful young barrel racer and we are proud she is one
of our students! Congratulations, cowgirl!

Not only did Mesa make it 2 in a row by
winning the IPRA World Championship, she is the only contestant
in history to win all 4 go rounds and the average at the IPRA Finals.
We traveled to Oklahoma to root
Mesa on, joining her Mom, Dad, Grandparents and 10 yr. old sister,
Shiloh, who is our 2007 Josey Jr. World, Jr. Division Champion.
On Saturday night they put me on
top of the World Famous Budweiser Clydesdales 6 horse hitch and
introduced me in the arena. Like Mesa, I also made history in this
arena, by winning the AQHA World Championship on Sonny Bit O’Both, the
only horse to win the AQHA World Championship and the WPRA World
Championship in the same year.
We had several other students who made
the IPRA Finals including Cory Kidd, Theresa Brown and Jason Tucker.
Jason and his partner Brad Culpepper went into the finals in 13th
place, did and outstanding job winning the average and winning 2nd
for the year.
Congratulations Chip Porterfield on
his 7.7 run in Calf Roping. Chip has helped R.E. in some of his calf
roping demonstrations throughout the country and his daughter LaRae is
a tough competitor during our Josey Jr. World Championship Barrel
Race.
We had a wonderful time and when
our students win, we win!
Dear Ms. Martha Josey,
I'm hoping you'll get this letter. I came to your
clinic in June of this year 2007, I learned a lot and I thank you so
much. I learned a lot of things and I got three scars when I was at
your barrel clinic. I learned horsemanship and I learned that barrel
racing is what I want to do for the rest of my life. I met a lot of
people and made two very good friends. I'm coming to another clinic
soon and the Reunion Round-Up! I thank you for what you taught me and
I thank
you for the courage you gave me to perform better and for all the
things that I have learned from you and what I hope to learn from you.
I love your horse Harvey. He is so pretty and so is Roper. He hung
around my trailer when I was there. I would like to let you know you
are on the top of my Hero list. I hope you get this letter and I would
like to be the next NFR qualifier along with Mesa Leavitt.
Yours Truly,
Harly Casey
Just
home from the November 15-17, 2007 Clinic at Josey's. Ms. Tabitha
Kocian, a 5 year old kindergarten student couldn't wait to enter up
at a barrel race to try her new Josey reins out! Being close to we
entered her in the 5D Diamond Run Showdown held each year in
Alvarado, TX. Tabitha ran a 17.326 the 1D winning time was 15.433.
Woe she is just 5 years old ahs she wowed everyone. Later Tabitha
told me, "Aunt Tammy, you know why I did so good on my barrels? Why?
I did what they told me at Josey's. I tipped my horses nose toward
the barrel and pulled to my pocket". I was speechless. "Your exactly
right Tabitha you listened really good while you were there".
Tabitha was so excited to see an envelope addressed to her and
inside was an invitation to the Josey Reunion Round-Up in 2008. Look
for this cowgirl and her winning mount Chattie.

I just wanted to give you a show update, first off again I want to say
thank you so much for putting on the clinic in Kingman, Kansas that
was the best experience that I have ever had and there is not
enough thanks to show my gratitude, well this past weekend I wanted to
let you know that I attended world finals in Stephenville, Texas, and
just wanted to let you know that since I have come back from your
clinic I have made a 4 sec improvement in the past 2 months and it has
been just amazing, Friday night I placed 7th in the 5d and just came a
little short from making that check but that's ok I had a good nice
clean run and was way excited with that, the next day I was presented
with a award with the most improved and the most heart in both horse
and rider and they presented me with a 2007 Lonestar Bronc halter that
says Champion Barrel Racer, and all I could was shed happy tears,
because at the beginning of this year I was running 22.0- 21.0 then I
moved up to 19.0 and this since I came back from the clinic I have now
been running 17.2- 18.3 depending on where we go. sat and sun I ran
both 18.37 and 18.38 which means that I am consistent and we are
getting even better so again thank you from the bottom of my heart,
you have touched my life and my horses life and can't wait to see you
at the reunion!!! thank you again
