Congratulation to all Josey Students

Everyone – remember Coach (Joanne Shirkey) from Michigan who helps us every year at the Junior World? She is a past student, instructor, winning coach and is now in politics. Go for it, Coach!!!

We dabbled with doing rodeos last year and were IPRA permit holder and Central States Rodeo, as a girl named Sunny Anderson talked my into going and traveling with her. At first, we were o.k., but needed to go back and work on some things to be more competetive. So, I moved to indoor arenas where I thought he would do better, and in fact, he did. In August of 2008 we placed at our first rodeo at Roberts Arena, we were 4th. In late August 2008 I got invited to another one at Jackson Arena and we were 2nd. It is a funny thing around here, we have a lot of invitation only rodeos, so I did not get invited to any more until January of 2009.
Sabrina Frye, a WPRA permit holder invited me to Columbus, Ohio for the World's Toughest Cowboy in January of 2009, (that is a reality t.v. show on Spike created by Mark Burnett, the creator of Survivor and the other half of World's Toughest Rodeo which many are co-sanctioned with WPRA). So, at that rodeo, Teresa Quay, a 7 time IFR qualifier and a WNFR qualifier, was there where we re-met, because I had only met her briefly before, she is known around here for all of her professional barrel racing accomplishments and I was 3rd. Then, I got invited to the World's Toughest Cowboy in Georgia, and would have been 3rd, but clipped the third, just like you said and then to Cincinnati, PCB tour in January which was a two nights and was 2nd the first night and 3rd the second night. Then Teresa called and asked if I wanted to go to the PCB Tour finals in Chicago and be part of the barrel racing. The first night I finished fourth and was very aggrivated with myself because I did not get up and ride- I knew I could have rode better. The second night, I won it and Teresa was 2nd, 3rd was Tammy Mackenzie, another well known barrel racer in the Great Lakes Area. And now, we are headed to Toledo.

Her first world title came early in May at Josey Ranch. Mesa had won the Josey Jr. World Championship in 2005 and 2006 and the hearts of the Josey's, but had been unseated the previous year by sister Shiloh.
With the desire to return to the winners circle she and "Doc" put together text book runs to capture the interview with her mentor Martha Josey and all the prizes that come with the championship.
